Foot Reflexology

Reflexology is a science which deals with the principle that there are reflex areas in the feet and hands which correspond to all of the glands, organs and parts of the body. Stimulating these reflexes properly can help many health problems in a natural way, and is a type of preventative maintenance. Through application of pressure on these reflexes with the feet being the primary area of application, reflexology relieves tension, improves circulation and helps promote the natural function of the related areas of the body. Our reflexology sessions include a foot scrub, hot towels, and hot stones in addition to the reflexology foot massage.

Chi Nei Tsang

Chi Nei Tsang – Chi Nei Tsang is a profoundly transformative therapeutic form of bodywork. Chi Nei Tsang, also known as internal organ chi massage (brought to the West by Taoist master Mantak Chia), helps to dissolve physical and emotional blocks in the abdominal area. It goes to the very origin of many health problems and can help resolve conditions such as: constipation, bloating, infertility, miscarriage, fibroids, leucorrhoea, dysmenorrhea, lower back pain, urinary issues, and many other conditions. A set of acupressure points around the navel are used to open the flow of energy plus blood and lymph circulation in the abdomen. The often chronically contracted abdominal muscles and ligaments get released thru gentle rocking, stretching, and shaking.

Ashiatsu Deepfeet Oriental Bar Therapy

Ashiatsu Oriental Bar Therapy elevates traditional bodywork to a new level. "Ashi" which means "foot" and "Atsu" which means "pressure" is a Western derivative of massage technique developed over 3,000 years ago in Eastern cultures. The long, slow, gliding strokes combined with the full body weight of the practitioner through the foot releases fascia, smoothes out knots and tension, improves range of motion, elongates the muscles, decompresses the spine, decreases chronic low back pain, and releases muscular tension throughout the whole body.  Ashiatsu can eliminate chronic tension without the pain often associated with deep-tissue massage. Deep Feet Bar Therapy is the most well respected barefoot technique in the United States.  A one and a half hour session is recommended to maximize results.

Chi Nei Tsang  is a holistic approach to health discovered and developed thousands of years ago in the mountains of China, to help the Taoist monks acquire the energy necessary to achieve the highest levels of meditative practices. Adapted for practical use today, this practice mostly revolves around using safe, deep and gentle touch applied directly to the abdomen. The abdomen, or tan tien in Chinese and referred to as the hara in Japanese is the center of our body and the place from which our power, vitality and movement originates.

Our navel is a map of the entire human body and the Chi Nei Tsang practitioner is trained to “read” this map in order to see the story the body is trying to communicate. In our mother’s belly, the navel is where we get our original information and energy, or “Chi” via the umbilical cord. Every single cell is imbibed with our genetic code and the information required to make us whole. Our navel is our first scar, and as a result a major point where toxins and congestion may accumulate. We begin at the navel and work outwards affecting the organs where many undigested emotional charges wait for the appropriate time to digest. By working directly on the internal organs, CNT accesses deep points of the meridian system which activates the “energy superhighway” through the fascia of the body. Using breath to bring awareness to places in the body, a Chi Nei Tsang treatment allows for an immense amount of detoxification to happen on all levels-physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual. CNT and Applied Chi Kung address all systems of the body including but not limited to the visceral, musculo-skeletal, endocrine, reproductive, respiratory, lymphatic, and metabolic, etc.

Medi Cupping

I'm sure some of you have heard about cupping therapy by watching the Olympics and seeing Michael Phelps with circular bruises on his arms and shoulders. While most attribute cupping to the Chinese, the first pictorial records are from the ancient Egyptians from around 1500 BC. Translations of hieroglyphics in the Ebers Papyrus, the oldest  medical text book, detail the use of cupping for treating fever, pain, vertigo, menstrual imbalances, weakened appetite and helping to accelerate the healing crisis.

Restorative Face Massage

Cupping involves placing glass, bamboo or plastic jars on the skin and creating a vacuum by suctioning out the air. The underlying tissue is raised, or sucked, partway into the cup. The purpose of cupping is to enhance circulation, help relieve pain, remove "heat" and pull out the toxins that linger in your body's tissues.

You usually will feel a tight sensation in the area of the cup. Often, this sensation is relaxing and soothing. Depending on your comfort and your practitioner's assessment of the problem, cups may be moved around or left in place. They may remain on your body briefly or for longer amounts of time. Each treatment is unique to you on that particular day. One very common area to be cupped is the back, although cups work well on other areas, too — particularly on fleshy sections of the body.

Cupping causes the skin to temporarily turn red, blue or purple, especially if there is an injury or energetic blockage under the area that was cupped. The skin discoloration can last anywhere from a few days to a couple of weeks, but is rarely painful. Once the marks have cleared, the procedure can be repeated until the condition or ailment is resolved.

There are a number of methods of cupping — the two most common here in the U.S. are "fixed cupping" and "moving cupping."

Fixed Cupping:

The cups are placed on a selected area of your body and then left in place without being moved.

Moving Cupping:

As the name implies, in this method your practitioner applies massage oil or cream on your skin in selected places, puts the cups over the areas to be treated and then slides them around that region of the body — most commonly the back. The cups slide easily because the cream has lubricated your body.
